Master Charles in Los Angeles

Los Angeles welcomed “The American Guru”, Master Charles for a week in mid-July.

Master Charles is very well known in Los Angeles and has had a regular presence there for many years.  The programs saw many old as well as new friends in attendance.   A large crowd attended his public program at the Olympic Collection Center during which he presented a subject very special to everyone, “ One Source…Honoring the Sacredness of Life”.   The positive response of the audience indicated how profoundly he had touched the group. 

Then on Sunday, July 20, back at the Olympic Collection Center, he held a one day intensive, “Blessings…The One Day Empowerment Program”.  A large audience attended, including many new members of the Recognitions Program.  The day included Master Charles in dialogue, answering individual and group questions and leading two sessions of Synchronicity Contemporary High-Tech Meditation.  He completed the day by personally greeting his most appreciate audience.

On Friday evening, July 17, during his trip to Los Angeles, Master Charles visited Maha Yoga in Santa Monica as the guest of Steve Ross.  A large audience enthusiastically participated in chants led by Steve and his band.  Master Charles “made” the evening with his comments.   His radiant presence blessed everyone in attendance.

On the evening of July 19, Master Charles journeyed to Santa Barbara for a program at the city’s most prominent yoga studio, Yoga Soup.  On the way he visited the Vedanta Temple in Montecido,  overlooking the coastal city of Santa Barbara and the Pacific Ocean.  He meditated with his small travel group for a little dominated by a magnificent picture of Sri Ramakrishna. 

The evening program at Yoga Soup attracted a capacity audience who were rewarded with a wonderful presentation from Master Charles.  Afterwards he greeted the attendees individually.  All agreed it was a very special.  Upon completion of the evening’s program, he returned to Los Angeles.

Periodically throughout the year, Master Charles meets the public in a free Open House evening during which he spontaneously creates a pertinent and timely “Shoebox Dialogue” for the assembled audience. The next, and final, such event in 2009 will occur on Saturday, September 12 at 8:00 pm. A teleconference and podcast will be broadcast to an international audience. 

On the following Sunday morning from 9:30 – 11:00 am a Yagna (sacred fire ritual) will be conducted at the Yagna Pavillion. All are welcome to attend.

Our April Stillpointe Retreat with Master Charles remains a profound experience among the guests and staff who attended it. For the fact is that the energetic effects of this very powerful experience are sure to resonate within all of us for a very long time.  As staff, we have learned to recognize and value the evolutionary potential which is available to us during these programs.  We know we will pushed beyond our present boundaries and we embrace the experience - even though it may not always be comfortable.  And our hearts become even more joyful when we find that our guests are also having very profound and life-altering meditative experiences.  We had several “first-timers” join us for this program and all had a beautiful experience and were aptly assisted and facilitated by their staff “buddies” as well as program moderators Kia Scherr and Phil Duncan. All who participated together share a very sacred space and we here in the community look forward to our continuing journey together as One. 

If seven consecutive evenings of extended meditation with Master Charles were not enough to knock your socks off - we had a week-long yagna going on as well!  From the opening ceremony Monday morning to the bittersweet conclusion on Saturday, the entire Sanctuary was bathed in the most delicate, exalted energetic which was invoked during this Chandi Yagna, dedicated to the Divine Feminine.  For six hours a day our beautiful priests joyfully chanted their mantras over the fire.  Guests were free to come and go as they wished and it was most intoxicating to sit in the pavilion by the fire and just bask in the divine energy.  Occasionally we were jolted out of our reverie by our priest, Ramesh, who exorted us to give “big clap!” as he tossed an offering into the fire. 

By week’s end, after much invocation, ritual and general merriment, the Goddess was happy, we were happy, the priests are always happy, the planets were happy, the lion in the picture with the goddess got some “pumpkin’ (actually a honeydew melon, but who’s splitting hairs here) and he was happy.  Oh, and one other thing.  We had the rare treat of gathering at the Blessed Mother Pavilion one evening at her request during which Master Charles shared with us her message and blessing.  Just as he was leaving this deeply intoxicating event we heard among the trees the rare call of the whip-poor-will, which has deep significance for Master Charles and is evidence of his relationship with the Blessed Mother.  The whip-poor-will’s call was perfectly timed and was the magical cherry on top of the Mother’s blessing.  And everybody was happy.

Master Charles annual Birthday Celebration Retreat was held at the Virginia Sanctuary March 12-15, 2009.  This beautiful program honoring Mastership was highlighted on the occasion of Master Charles’ birthday on March 14, when he delivered the Blessed Mother’s birthday message to him - and by extension, to all of us.  In the spiritual tradition of Mastership, the birthday heralds an expansion of the guru’s energetic field.  As Master Charles experienced his own energetic expansion during the program, accompanied by the tangible presence of the Blessed Mother, so too did he gift all of  us with a group empowerment which left many in awe, and some in tears, over the magnitude of what they had just experienced.   

It was an expansive, heartfelt weekend in which we were joined by many dear members of the Synchronicity community.  The Saturday program was also made available worldwide through teleconference and podcast, making the same energetic expansion accessible to Synchronicity meditators all over the world.     

In these times of fragmentation and extreme polarization in the collective consciousness of humanity, we must heed the call to a greater awakening. Life is Divine and human life is a sacred experience. In the life that empowers us, we are all one. The one is the many...

On New Year’s Eve 2008, as the highlight of the The Master’s Empowerment Retreat “The Power of One: Recovery and Renewal”,  Master Charles delivered an inspiring and uplifting dialogue to the assembled guests and well as those joining us from all over the world via teleconference and podcast.   

Master Charles began the evening with a New Year’s Message from the Blessed Mother which he delivered to the audience at her request.  He then elaborated on his understanding of the message given to him by the Blessed Mother while he was held captive at the Oberoi Hotel in Mumbai.  She spoke only these few words “Trust and watch.” Yet by meditating deeply on her directive, Master Charles was able to transform his experience into one of great love and light.  Through his enlightening insight, he raises our awareness of how we, too, can transform our experience into a blissful expression of Divine Life.

Master Charles and the Synchronicity Residential Community hosted several traditional events this holiday season which provided a warm setting for our community to come together and consciously celebrate this special time of year. 

On Christmas Day, residents and community members joined Master Charles for a quiet (and delicious) Christmas dinner.  This was followed by our annual holiday reception with Master Charles which was held downstairs in the Fellowship Hall.  This warm time of sharing featured gifts, greetings and lots of desserts!  Master Charles met with everyone in attendance, giving each of us the opportunity to share stories, reminiscences and well wishes and to savor Master Charles’ enlightening presence.

Over the New Year’s Holiday we offered our annual Master’s Empowerment Silent Retreat.  This unique program provided an excellent opportunity to reflect on the events of the past year and to rededicate ourselves to our journey for the coming year.  The program culminated on New Year’s Eve with a powerful program in which Master Charles shared with us the Blessed Mother’s New Year’s Message followed by a very impactful group empowerment which included not only those physically present but also individuals from all over the world who joined us via teleconference or podcast. 

In his first visit to Toronto, Master Charles presented a series of programs to interested Canadians. On the evening of Thursday, Sept. 25th, an Introductory Program was offered in which Master Charles dialogued on the theme of Modern Spirituality and its practical application, Synchronicity High-Tech Meditation.

This well-attended free event drew a diverse audience with participants coming from as far away as Montreal as well as from locations in and around Toronto. Many purchased Synchronicity soundtracks and books and also enrolled in the full-day Empowerment Program presented on Saturday, Sept. 27th.  On the following evening, a book signing with Master Charles was held at a bookstore in the Toronto suburb of Markham. 

The full-day Empowerment Program was again well-attended and included seasoned practitioners as well as those who were new to meditation. Master Charles elucidated the Holistic Model of Reality in-depth, answered individual questions, offered a variety of awareness techniques and led the group in extended sessions of Synchronicity High-Tech Meditation, both in the morning and afternoon sessions.

The program concluded with a Farewell Greeting in which many expressed their profound gratitude in having the opportunity to spend time with Master Charles in such an intimate setting. Future plans include a series of programs with Master Charles in Montreal as well as Vancouver.

On June 27, 2008, Dr. Mohammad Alam, his wife, Naila, and friend and associate, Yasmeen Durrani, from Herndon, Virginia, visited the Sanctuary and met with Master Charles. The purpose of the visit was to discuss how the Synchronicity Experience could serve to facilitate Dr. Alam's vision for global peace, particularly in the forty-eight nations that comprise the world of Islam.

Dr. Alam is Founder and Chairman of Our Future World group of companies and is also Director and Chief Technology Officer of Express Care, Inc. - a humanitarian organization that provides information and assistance to those in need, offering a support network that is often lacking.

Naila, CEO of Express Care, is a recipient of the Champion of Compassion Award, from the United States Department of Labor, Center for Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. (An Initiative by the President of the United States). This successful humanitarian organization has received numerous awards, both nationally and locally. The latest achievement of Express Care took place on Thursday June 26, 2008, when it received the prestigious 'HONOR OF HOPE AWARD' from The White House under the Faith and Community Based Initiative by President George W. Bush. This award was presented at the White House National Conference of Faith and Community Based Initiative held in Washington DC, which was well attended by more than 1500 people representing non-profit organizations (nationally and internationally) and government officials.

Dr. Alam was introduced to the Synchronicity Experience as a participant of our recent High-Tech Meditation Retreat. He said he came to "try out" the technology to see if it would be effective in accelerating his projects for world peace. His experience was so affirmative that arrangements were made for him to meet with Master Charles to discuss the practical details of implementation. Master Charles enthusiastically acknowledged Mohammad's vision in utilizing Synchronicity Contemporary High-Tech Meditation and Holistic Lifestyle to deliver holistic awareness to those in Islamic nations, thus facilitating balance and contributing to a more peaceful world.

In addition, Mohammad is a close associate of Masaru Moto, the Japanese author of The Hidden Messages in Water and will speak with him about meeting with Master Charles to introduce the Synchronicity Experience to Japan.

New images of the Divine Feminine from across a variety of cultures and times will soon be installed along the Sanctuary’s contemplative walking paths. Encased in glass display frames, these beautiful images exemplify the understanding expressed by the Blessed Mother in Her apparitional manifestation, that She is “The One in the Many”… the embodiment of every form of the Divine Feminine and yet, is beyond them all. As it was in the sanctuary of his illustrious teacher, Paramahansa Muktananda, Master Charles is recreating here at Synchronicity Sanctuary, a classical element within the spiritual lifestyle such that everywhere one looks, there is an empowering reminder of Sourceful reality and the divinity of life itself.

Master Charles visited Nashville, TN from April 19th - 23rd. This was his second visit in the last six months and was marked by his attendance at the acclaimed Nashville Film Festival for two screenings of the documentary film "The Spiritual Revolution” which features him along with a number of other spiritual teachers, medical doctors and researchers. Both screenings were very well attended and along with producer / director Alan Swyer, Master Charles answered questions from the audience following each showing. In addition, Master Charles presented an evening dialogue and meditation at the newly opened Devi Clinic, a healing and yoga center jointly owned by Synchronicity Certified Teachers Alicia Anderson and Rudrani Devi. Many local Synchronicity Associates were in attendance on this occasion.

Recently, a new statue of the Blessed Mother was installed at the Blessed Mother Public Apparition Site in the Shrine of the Heart at the center of Synchronicity Sanctuary. The new statue was a year in the making and was sculpted by artisans in Peru. It is nearly ten feet in height and is modeled on the large painting of the Blessed Mother by Russian born artist Alexander Anufriev that hangs in the Sanctuary Atrium. The new statue reflects Master Charles’ visionary experience of the Blessed Mother as an ecstatic expression of “The One in the Many”, a term She has often used to describe Herself.

On Sunday, February 24th, Master Charles and his supporting staff returned to the Virginia Sanctuary after nearly six weeks touring India and London.  The purpose of this journey was multi-faceted and included extensive interaction between Master Charles and some of the most respected spiritual leaders of India as well as the presentation of Synchronicity Programs to the public in India and London. 

Additionally, the tour afforded an invaluable opportunity for Master Charles to connect with key people in the areas of media, publishing and the arts for the creation of future collaborative programs and projects.  This will open new possibilities for the context of Modern Spirituality that Master Charles has evolved.  In all, the tour was an unqualified success that has inspired widespread interest in the Synchronicity Experience. 

During Master Charles' recent visit to London, he was interviewed by the Holistic TV Channel, an internet broadband television network whose mission is to promote conscious holistic topics and programs to be viewed on-line, anytime and anywhere in the world.  The interview was conducted and filmed by two very loving and conscious people, Nicola Hague and Robert Armstrong, who met with Master Charles for over an hour.  In a very relaxed and informal interview, Master Charles shares his experience on a number of topics ranging from his childhood, to the Synchronicity Experience, to the Blessed Mother Apparition and more.

We have recently concluded Master Charles’ Birthday Stillpointe Retreat, held March 17 - 23, 2008 at the Sanctuary Retreat Center.  This retreat was a very special one not only because it marked Master Charles’ 63rd Birthday celebration, but also included a week-long yagna, a comprehensive Vedic / Tantric ritual of invocation and empowerment focused on the Divine Feminine.  Highly trained and experienced Brahmin priests conducted the yagna in two sessions per day of three to four hours each.

In addition, on Friday evening of the retreat, Master Charles presented The Sounds of Source live, in which he chanted portions of the Vedic / Tantric scriptures known as The 1,000 Names of the Divine as Mother, accompanying himself on the veena, a traditional Indian stringed instrument.  It was a rare and sacred occasion that delivered all gathered to the most sublime states of holistic fulfillment.   

As the week concluded, many retreatants commented that this was the most impactful week-long retreat experience they ever had. 

Master Charles’ Birthday Stillpointe Retreat featured a week-long yagna, a comprehensive Vedic / Tantric ritual of invocation and empowerment.  This particular yagna was focused on the Divine Feminine in keeping with Master Charles’ life-long association with the Blessed Mother and Her apparitional manifestation within the Shrine of the Heart at Synchronicity Sanctuary.

Retreatants had several opportunities daily to sit at the specially constructed yagna site and enjoy the sacred energetic experience generated by the chanting of mantras and offering of specific materials into the yagna fire, which was kept burning 24 / 7 throughout the week.  Each day, Master Charles was in attendance, blessing and overseeing the ritual. 

The yagna’s conclusion at midday on Saturday, March 22nd was marked by great celebration and along with Master Charles, everyone shared in the miraculous collective empowerment created over the course of the week.

On May 12th, 2007, WCAV-TV, a major Charlottesville television station and CBS / Fox News affiliate, filmed the monthly meditation with Master Charles at the Blessed Mother Apparition site and aired the broadcast later that week on the 11:00pm news. The newscast was extremely positive and presented Master Charles, the Blessed Mother Apparition, and Synchronicity Sanctuary in a most acknowledging way. Master Charles was also formally introduced to the assembly and acknowledged by Her Holiness Sai Maa Lakshmi Devi. Thereafter, Master Charles and Sai Maa spent many hours late into the night and early morning hours, discussing the ways and means in which they and their two organizations might collaborate and support each other in their common vision of a world restored to balance and spiritual value.

Also, Master Charles was invited to address an assembly of all the Australian participants along with Sai Maa's "Master Teachers", those who she has designated as primary representatives of her teachings to the world. The response was nothing less than heart-warming and deeply transformative. All were delighted to meet the Modern Mystic and enjoy his palpable energetic transmission.

After the conclusion of the Vail intensive, Master Charles traveled with Sai Maa through the Rocky Mountains to her ashram in Crestone, where their collaborative dialogue continued along with opportunities for Master Charles to meet with members of her monastic and secular communities. In the high desert of Colorado, with the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as a backdrop, the secluded and rugged beauty of the natural environment combined with the intoxicating energy of two Spiritual Masters to create a fulfilling and holistic experience.

Most impressive was the heart-felt welcoming, acknowledgment, and honoring that Master Charles received from all and everyone and the openness to his modern, technological approach to spirituality with Contemporary Meditation as the means. Looking ahead, ongoing collaborations are being planned as if to demonstrate to the world what it could mean to bring balance to the relative polarities. with the human representation of the Divine Masculine and Feminine. two Spiritual Masters. sharing their combined wisdom. as a unity in diversity.

It has been Master Charles' intention to reach out to those in the local community and beyond in order to acknowledge and celebrate the common threads of unity that exist within the diversity of religious / spiritual perspectives. This outreach represents a demonstration of the more evolved possibility available to humanity in these times and stands in contrast to the current sectarian strife that threatens to plunge the world into global conflict.

In attendance at the conference were participants active in a number of ongoing local area interfaith initiatives from spiritual / religious traditions including the Bahai; Christian; Hindu / Vedic; Judaic; and others. Several of the guests arrived earlier that day and experienced the daily meditation at the Blessed Mother public apparition site followed by dinner. Joining the interfaith event were a number of Synchronicity Monastic and Secular Community Members who greeted the guests and participated in the discussion.

After Master Charles' arrival, all were introduced to him and each participant was then invited to share their interfaith background and perspective on the current state of world spirituality and what they see as the greater possibility of such. There were many beautiful and personal sharings and as the discussion unfolded, a palpable sense of holistic collective consciousness was noticed in the room. The joy of an interfaith dialogue was supported and augmented by the truthful experience of unified consciousness experienced in Master Charles' enlightening presence. Interestingly, a note of gratitude from one of the participants received several days following the event expressed it as follows:

"I thoroughly enjoyed Monday night's meeting and felt that something important was happening there, though I am not sure quite what!"

The event continued much longer than scheduled as the guests repeatedly commented on the fact that they did not wish to leave the peaceful and loving energy they felt radiating throughout the room. Finally, at the conclusion, several invitations were extended to Master Charles to partake in future events in the area and plans are also underway for the next meeting to be held at the Sanctuary.

After showing her the Blessed Mother painting, Master Charles then welcomed Sai Maa into the Environment, where the assembled were invited to come forward individually to greet them both. The mutual honoring and deep love that flowed between Mataji and Master Charles literally filled the hall with divine light and the assembled disciples were gifted with a most uplifting and empowering experience. Sai Maa then spoke to the group for a short time and led a beautiful Vedic chant joined by Master Charles.

After the two Spiritual Masters bid farewell to the assembly to spend time privately discussing plans for future collaborations, Her disciples were hosted by the Synchronicity Community for a sumptuous luncheon and tour of the Sanctuary Retreat Center. Many from both communities commented that the visit felt more like a "homecoming" than merely getting acquainted. Without a doubt, there was an immediate sense of heartfelt welcoming and the joyful recognition that all are brothers and sisters in the spiritual journey, sharing in the greatest fortune possible for a human being. a devoted and steadfast commitment to a true Spiritual Master.

As part of the tour, an overview of the Synchronicity Holistic Lifestyle Model, as created by Master Charles, was presented to the Sai Maa Community by Synchronicity teachers, including a short session of Synchronicity Contemporary HighTech Meditation. It was a blissful experience of meditative awareness in which many were reluctant to remove their headphones at the conclusion!

From there, the tour culminated with a visit to the Pavilion (Blessed Mother Apparition site), wherein the combined communities assembled together for a meditation in the sacred presence of the Blessed Mother, whose apparitional manifestation continues on a daily basis. Simultaneously, Sai Maa and Master Charles communed with the Blessed Mother in Her private apparition site, The Grotto, adjacent to the Pavilion. As the assembled disciples' meditation was ending, all were gifted with the vision of the radiant Masters joyfully emerging from the Grotto. a most auspicious conclusion to an empowering communion of two great spiritual luminaries and their disciples.

On April 18th, 2007, Master Charles welcomed Tibetan Buddhist Spiritual Master Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche for a visit to the Sanctuary. Tenzin Rinpoche is a lineage holder of the Bön Dzogchen Tradition and is a widely traveled and respected scholar and teacher.

A former Rockefeller Fellowship faculty member at Rice University in Houston, Texas, Rinpoche was awarded a National Endowment for the Humanities grant for research on the Bön Tradition and has published a number of books. Rinpoche currently resides in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he has established Ligmincha Institute and Serenity Ridge Retreat Center located within a short distance from Synchronicity Sanctuary.

In their nearly two hour meeting, Master Charles offered a concise overview of the Synchronicity Experience, the contemporization of the ancient wisdom of the Tantra and in particular, Kashmir Shaivism, the spiritual tradition of his illustrious teacher, Muktananda. He also gave Rinpoche an introduction to the Blessed Mother Apparition and how Her public manifestation has made the Sanctuary a place of pilgrimage.

In their ensuing discussion, many questions were addressed, connections acknowledged from both sides, and the sense of mutual respect and fellowship was pervasive. In all, the meeting of these two Spiritual Masters was a most auspicious and timely event as we continue to witness the unfolding miracle of the Blessed Mother Apparition and Her consistent emphasis on the One in the Many. unity in diversity. and the truth of our Oneness as a demonstration of a conscious humanity.

On November 29th, The Sanctuary hosted a gala event to celebrate the unveiling of the Blessed Mother painting, a sacred and miraculous work of art by internationally renowned painter, Alexander Anufriev. Over six months in the making, the monumental work measures seven by ten feet and depicts The Blessed Mother in an ecstatic representation as She currently appears to Master Charles.

We are pleased to share the text of a talk by given by Dr. Constant Mews at the Unveiling of the Blessed Mother painting at Synchronicity Sanctuary, November 29th, 2006. (11/29/06)

We are all born of a mother's blood, effort, and on-going love. That experience has been universal since the beginning of human history. Yet so often, perhaps for many thousands of years, we humans forget where we come from. In this small talk, which I am so honored to give at the unveiling of this wonderful image, I shall pick out and situate what we are about to see within a larger perspective.
